Hello Ray! This is a real special occasion for me, because why the hell would I want to talk to some GUY when there's all those ladies out there!? I don't have a good answer for it, but thankfully I'm not the one who's being asked the questions. Since I don't know how to start an interview without hitting on someone, why don't you use your media savvy to fill the readers in on who you are and what you do.
Well whenever someone asks me what it is I do I always tell them the same thing... “I'm just a guy in an office... sometimes my office is an adult entertainment set.” That pretty much describes what I do. (Laughs) I guess if one was looking for an actual job title though I'd call myself a Social Media Manager. I'm also a part of ATKingdom's marketing team and I'm also the content editor for our paysite ATK Premium and several of our freesites/tours. Mostly everyone knows me from my blog posts for ATKingdom and my work on Twitter and our YouTube channel.
How did you get started in this business Ray? For me its just a hobby; I did a quick little interview for fun with Sophie Dee to celebrate my 500th post on a wrestling message board where I was known as a big fan of hers, and from then on I just kept doing it because I like porn and it gave me the chance to write a bit. But being a possessional? I can hardly imagine!
My previous job was as a content editor for a high profile start-up named Mahalo.com. I worked mostly in covering sports, and mainstream entertainment for the site. When the opportunity to work at Amateur Teen Kingdom presented itself I was really excited. I've always been a fan of the industry from a far. I may be naïve, but I've always tried to present and carry out my work the same way that I carried out my work in mainstream entertainmet. In my mind they are essentially the same. Just a different form of entertainment. I may be wrong but I think that's why many models appreciate our marketing. It's a lot like our sites. Just simple, natural, nothing fake or tacky. We just try to be real and honest in our interviews and on twitter and the way we present the models and ourselves.
What was it like meeting Gracie Glam for the first time? I saw on Twitter she was the first adult star you ever met. Were you nervous? My first was - I believe - Delilah Strong from a local Tampa event called Night Moves in October of 2008. I can tell you I was a mess. I'm a very shy person and even today I get jittery before meeting a new girl at a convention or an appearance. But Delilah, and the other girls there that night, were all very nice and I had a great time. If they had been bitchy these past few years would have turned out very different for me.
Gracie Glam was the PERFECT model to meet for my first time on an adult entertaiment set. She was soo sweet, outgoing and friendly. The owner of our site wanted to start to use my mainstream experience in the marketing of our network of sites. His idea was for me to write an article on our Gracie Glam photo shoot. Gracie was still relatively new, but we all knew that she was gonna break out big. Looking back it was an amazing opportunity and really a critical turning point.
I was just starting the Twitter account and many of the models didn't really know who I was or what I did. This was the first time we had tried something like this in our marketing. If Gracie was mean or standoffish it could have easily change the course of our strategy. What we have on our sites today would likely be VERY different...or even be non-existant. There might not be a YouTube channel. The ATK Lounge probably wouldn't feature in-depth interviews. I might not have started the Babe of the Month poll if I was turned off by my first experience with an adult model. But Gracie was great! She was funny, open. She answered all my questions. Was extemely professional even though I was noticably nervous. I was especially nervous when she first started taking her clothes off. I didn't want her think I was gawking or perving on her. But she was so relaxed and, friendly and professional it made me feel silly for being nervous. To be completely honest most of the day I was just stunned by her looks. Literally. Obviously she's pretty hot in her pictures... in person she's just amazing. So having the opportunity to be around her while working was just an honor and exciting. A sincere blast.
Whats the best day you've ever had on the job? What did you do, who did you shoot, how did you make the rest of us jealous?
Well they've all been great days! Amateur Teen Kingdom is a great place to work. Obviously, it's stressful and demanding like many office jobs. But that's what keeps the job interesting. As far as great days on set, again, they've all been great. I always joke that I'd like to one day be on a nightmare set where the model is a diva and is being difficult etc. I mean I'm sure that exists....you hear about that. But I've never personally had the chance to witness it. All the models I've met have been SUPER nice, sweet and friendly around me. I don't know... maybe they all put on a show for me... and refrain from the drama. (Laughs) Thing is when I've run into them away from set... in different situations... they are still sweet and friendly too. So maybe I've just been lucky with all the models that I've met.
Who are your favourite girls to see again and again, and who would you like to talk to or work with for the first time? In this you REALLY have the edge over me, because while Florida has its share of video vixens its still not up to LA's level, and being a site like the one you work it looks like you're constantly meeting the hottest, newest girls as they're trying to break in!
Favorite girls? You trying to get me in trouble? They are ALL great! (Laughs) But I guess the ones that spring to mind... that I've had the pleasure of actually hanging out with on several occasions are April O'Neil and also Lizz Tayler. They are both SUPER cool and just fun, positive, sweet people to be around. I seriously can't say enough good things about them. I recently saw Gracie Glam again, it was the first time I had seen her since I wrote that article and obviously a lot is different now since she won AVN newcomer. She's been on magazine covers etc and she's pretty famous. But she was still super sweet and funny and cool... basically the same person...only more famous. (laughs) The only thing different was that she was even sexier now...if you can believe that. I've seen Allie Haze at various functions she's REALLY cool, so is her boyfriend. She has that innocent charm which is just disarming and adorable. Danica Dillon is FUCKING hilarious and a blast to hang with. She makes me laugh all the time. I got to hang with Jessie Andrews...she's ADORABLE and sweet. She just makes you want to hug her and take care of her. Kelly Klass is sweet and funny too. Victoria Lawson is a great party host... super fun. Shay Golden is really cool...she's like my annoying litle sister. Always teasing me. Violet Monroe, Jamey Janes, Addison O'Riley, Brooke Van Buuren, Ela Darling are all fun and cool. Charlie Ann is a blast. Katie Jordin is funny and just super hot. Bree Daniels is SMOKING hot. I literally had to remind myself to close my mouth... she's that hot. Sierra Skye was super sweet and awesome and is always nice to me on twitter. Ivy Winters is also super funny and just really interesting to talk to. There are soooo many!! I'm sure I've forgot about someone and they'll make sure to let me know. I apologize in advance.
